DIGITAL PLANNING / DRAINAGE STUDY

Plan for the rain.
As well as the finish.

A digital driveway model can help show where surface water may travel or collect, so drainage options can be explored before building.

    Start with the ground

A digital model of the existing surface gives a starting point for the study.

  2. 02

    Watch the water

Modelled heavy rain shows likely flow paths and places where water may pool.

  3. 03

    Explore drainage

Four proposed drain positions are tied to the modelled pool areas. Their location and outlet still need checking on site.

Explore the four proposed drain positions
D1 · Long ACO

Runs through the entrance pool, close to and following the grass edge.

D2 · Right-car pool

Set within the right-car pool, clear of grass and aligned parallel with the fence.

D3 · Left-car pool

Targets the separate pool to the left of the cars.

D4 · Between the cars

Targets the central pool between the vehicles.

Planning model only. The final sunny design is a dry-weather visual, not a drainage result or completed work. Confirm levels and outlet capacity on site.

About this example

The existing-ground model assumes 60 mm of rain per hour for 15 model minutes, then the rain stops. Four proposed drains switch on at model minute 30, each assumed to take 1 litre per second. Puddles persist, with 17 litres of modelled surface water remaining at model minute 60. The on-video figures are estimates, not measurements. Roof or off-site water and ground absorption are excluded; actual ground levels, drain heights, downstream pipes and outlet capacity need site checks.
